A strong start to the summer for Marinette Post 39 Legion Baseball

Posted

Post 39 opened its 2026 season last Sunday at Pedersen Ball Park with a pair of shutout victories over Wausau Post 10, winning 6-0 and 16-0.

Cooper Smith tossed a complete-game shutout in the opener, while Jackson Schramm allowed just one hit in game two as Marinette's pitching staff combined to blank Wausau throughout the afternoon.

The defense was just as sharp. First baseman Maveric Williamson came up with one of the day's biggest plays, turning an inning-ending double play in game one by snagging a line drive and quickly tagging a runner off first base with Wausau threatening.

At the plate, Marinette gradually pulled away in the opener before erupting offensively in game two. Teagan Anderson provided the highlight swing of the day, unloading on a grand slam as Post 39 turned a comfortable lead into a rout.

"We hit the ball really well today and our defense played tremendous," said head coach Brian Lesandrini.
