Memorial Day Service Held at Amberg Cemetery

Mullany-McTrusty American Legion Post #428 held their annual Memorial Day Ceremony at the Amberg Cemetery at 11:00 am Monday, May 29.  The Wausaukee School Band marched into the cemetery behind the Post and American flags and Color Guard.

Jim Fronsoe welcomed about 100 people for the day. Chaplain Dennis Elfstrom gave an opening prayer.  Sandy Schu representing the Auxiliary, and Legion member Chuck Fick both spoke. The bottom line is, it is a day to remember. He told of two of his students who died serving this country in Vietnam and he remembers them. So everyone should remember someone who has served, died or has come home. Remember !, Remember !, Rremember!
Auxiliary Sandy Schu and Legion Dennis Elstrom placed flowers on the Memorial stone.

Chaplain Dennis Elfstrom gave the closing prayer. Everyone was invited to lunch at the St. Agnes Church Hall afterwards.

Legion members participating were Commander Jim Fronsoe, Chaplain Dennis Elfstrom, Donald Persinger, Speaker Chuck Fick, Sgt at Arms and Bugler Ron Schwartz, Firing Squad Dick Willan, Hugh Guy, Bob Mathis and George Kloppenberg carried the American Flag and Elroy Graese Jr. of Pembine carried the Post flag and Auxiliary member Sandy Schu.

During the past week the Auxiliary ladies placed marker signs and flags on all veteran graves.

The Post set up 50 borrowed burial flags of veterans around the ceremonial grounds.

The Wausaukee Band,14 members, under the direction of Stacy Suennen played the National Anthem and America the Beautiful. They also traveled to Wausaukee and Athlestane for their cemetery services.
