Judith M. Christenson

Judith M. (Chapin) Christenson, 82, of Gillett, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023.

Born May 11, 1941, to the late Leo and Naomi (Case) Chapin, the family lived in Oshkosh before moving to a farm on Frank Settlement. On July 12, 1975, she married Gerald “Jerry” Christenson and the couple lived in Oshkosh before moving to Arizona in 1989.

They spent 17 years in Sun City, Az., where she made hats for school children on the reservation. She enjoyed sightseeing and exploring and the couple also enjoyed camping. They moved from Arizona to Gillett  where she enjoyed sewing, crocheting and owned her own clothing store for a while and then worked in retail until retirement.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry; four sons, Pat (Pam) Paholke, Glen (Cindy) Paholke, Tim (Beth) Paholke and Todd (Jane) Christenson; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; eight siblings, Sandra Grandaw, Rusty (Doty) Chapin, Ruth (Stanley) Reed, Ann Schwab, Chuck (Laurie) Chapin, Mike (Alice) Chapin, Larry Chapin and Lorraine (Joe) Meisbauer and also many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Paholke; siblings, Glenn Chapin and a brother-in-law, Richard Christenson.

Visitation was held Saturday, May 20 at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring from 2 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 3 p.m., with Pastor Michael Paholke officiating. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home of Suring assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be made at www.gruetzmacherfuneralhome.com.
